## Biography

Hilary Bevan Jones is a British television producer. She began her career at the BBC in 1979 as a floor assistant, having previously worked as a teacher in Essex. During the 1980s she contributed to comedy programmes including *Not the Nine O'Clock News* and *Blackadder*, and became a producer in 1988 on *Red Dwarf*.

She left the BBC in 1990 and produced the Granada series *Cracker* (1993), where she first collaborated with writer Paul Abbott. In 1994 she founded Endor Productions. After again working with Abbott on the BBC series *State of Play* (2003), they established Tightrope Pictures, which produced *The Girl in the Café* (2005). She served as chairman of BAFTA from 2006 to 2008, the first woman in the role. Her other credits include *The Boat That Rocked* (2009), *Roald Dahl's Esio Trot* (2015) and *Blithe Spirit* (2020).
