Hilton McRae is a Scottish actor who works in theatre, television and film. Born on 28 December 1949 in Dundee, he studied at the University of Edinburgh and was a member of the radical theatre group 7:84 before joining the Royal Shakespeare Company in 1977. He has focused mainly on avant-garde and political theatre.

His film roles include Sam in *The French Lieutenant's Woman* (1981), Willy in *Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes* (1984), Arthur Greenwood in *Darkest Hour* (2017), Jacob Smallbury in *Far from the Madding Crowd* (2015) and Macdonwald in *Macbeth* (2015). On television he has appeared as Judge Milan Kadnikov in *Chernobyl* (2019) and provided the voice of Hierarch Regret in *Halo* (2022). He played Arvel Crynyd (uncredited) in *Return of the Jedi* (1983).

McRae is married to actress Lindsay Duncan.
