Hope Emerson was an American actress. She began performing as a child and worked in vaudeville before making her Broadway debut in *Lysistrata* in 1930.

She appeared in films from the late 1930s, with notable roles including Rose Given in *Cry of the City* (1948), Olympia La Pere in *Adam's Rib* (1949), Helena Domenico in *House of Strangers* (1949), Midge in *Thieves' Highway* (1949), Evelyn Harper in *Caged* (1950), for which she received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress, Patience Hawley in *Westward the Women* (1951), and Mrs. Rogers in *Rock-a-Bye Baby* (1958). She also worked in television, including a role in *Peter Gunn*.
