## Biography

Hope Loring was a screenwriter who worked on more than sixty films between 1918 and 1931. She received screenplay credit, with Louis D. Lighton, for *Wings* (1927), the first film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture.

She also wrote the screenplay for *It* (1927) and contributed to numerous other silent-era productions, often in collaboration with Lighton, whom she married in 1920. Loring was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1894 and died in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, in 1959.
