## Biography

Howard Blake is an English composer, conductor and pianist. Born in London on 28 October 1938, he grew up in Brighton and studied piano and composition at the Royal Academy of Music.

Over a career spanning more than fifty years he has written numerous film scores, including *The Duellists* (1977), *Flash Gordon* (1980, in collaboration with Queen), *The Snowman* (1982) and *A Month in the Country* (1987). He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Music and received the OBE in 1994 for services to music.
