## Biography

Howard Burden is a British costume designer. Born in 1961 in Ashford, Kent, he trained in theatre design at Wimbledon School of Art and began his career as an assistant costume designer at the BBC.

He joined *Red Dwarf* as costume designer from its third series in 1989, redesigning the main characters' looks, and returned for later seasons and specials through 2020. He served as costume designer on *Doctor Who* from 2012 to 2014, including the 50th anniversary special *The Day of the Doctor* (2013).

His other credits include *The Last Kingdom* (2022), *The War of the Worlds* (2019) and *Worzel Gummidge* (2019–2021). He has received BAFTA nominations for costume design.
