## Biography

Howard Erskine (1926–2011) was an American actor and producer. Born in Bronxville, New York, he began his career with small roles in 1950s television and film, including an uncredited part in *Seminole* (1953). He later appeared in numerous Woody Allen films, such as *Zelig* (1983) as the Hypodermic Doctor, *Bullets Over Broadway* (1994), *Celebrity* (1998), *Small Time Crooks* (2000) and *The Curse of the Jade Scorpion* (2001).

Erskine is also credited as Beaufort Guest in Martin Scorsese’s *The Age of Innocence* (1993). His other screen roles include Judge Phillips in *Thinner* (1996) and parts in *Hollywood Ending* (2002). On Broadway he worked extensively as a producer and director, notably producing the Tony Award-winning play *The Desperate Hours* (1955). He was married to actress Lucy Prentis.
