## Biography

Howard Goodall is an English composer of music for television, stage musicals and choral works. He was educated at New College School, Stowe School and Lord Williams's School. A boy chorister, he read music at Christ Church, Oxford, where he gained a first-class degree.

Goodall composed the theme tunes and incidental music for the BBC comedy series *Blackadder* (1983) and *Red Dwarf* (1988), as well as *Mr. Bean*, *The Vicar of Dibley* and *QI*. He has presented educational television series on music, including *Howard Goodall's 20th Century Greats* (2004).

He was appointed CBE in 2011 for services to music education and has won awards including a Primetime Emmy and a Classical BRIT Award. He is married to classical music agent Val Fancourt.
