Howard Korder is an American screenwriter, playwright and producer. Born in New York City on 24 November 1957, he first gained recognition as a playwright with works including the 1988 play *Boys' Life*, which received a Pulitzer Prize for Drama nomination, and *Search and Destroy*, later adapted into a 1995 film.

His screen credits include the teleplay for *The Passion of Ayn Rand* (1999) and the screenplay for *Lakeview Terrace* (2008). Korder joined the writing staff of the HBO series *Boardwalk Empire* (2010–2014) as a supervising producer, later serving as co-executive producer and executive producer; he wrote 24 episodes across its five seasons. The first-season writing team shared a Writers Guild of America Award for Best New Series.

Subsequent television work includes writing and producing on *The Right Stuff* (2020), writing an episode of *Perry Mason* (2020) while also serving as consulting producer and appearing as an actor, and writing and executive producing the miniseries *Franklin* (2024). He has received Primetime Emmy nominations for Outstanding Drama Series for his work on *Boardwalk Empire*.
