## Biography

Hua Hui-Ying was a Taiwanese cinematographer and director. Born in Shanghai in 1925, he joined the China Movie Studio as an apprentice in 1946 and became a cinematographer in 1951. He worked on numerous films for the studio in the 1950s and 1960s before joining Union Film Company in 1968.

He is known for his cinematography on King Hu's *Dragon Inn* (1967) and *A Touch of Zen* (1971). He also directed two films, including *Qing Hai Duan Chang Ren* (1966). Hua Hui-Ying died in 2016.
