## Biography

Hugh Bateup is an Australian production designer and art director. He began working with the Wachowskis as one of the art directors on *The Matrix* (1999), later serving as supervising art director on *The Matrix Reloaded* (2003) and *The Matrix Revolutions* (2003).

Bateup advanced to production designer on several of their subsequent projects, including *Cloud Atlas* (2012), *Jupiter Ascending* (2015) and *The Matrix Resurrections* (2021). His other production design credits include *The Shallows* (2016) and *I Am Mother* (2019), as well as the series *Sense8* (2015–2017). He has received three wins and eight nominations for his work.
