## Biography

Hugh Bennett (1892–1950) was an American film editor and director. He worked as an editor on numerous productions from the mid-1920s onwards, including *Arrowsmith* (1931), *Street Scene* (1931), *The Great McGinty* (1940), *If I Were King* (1938) and *I Wanted Wings* (1941). He was under contract at First National (1926–29), Goldwyn/United Artists (1931–32) and Paramount (1933–41).

Bennett also directed several entries in the Henry Aldrich comedy series for Paramount in the early 1940s, such as *Henry Aldrich for President* (1941), *Henry Aldrich, Editor* (1942) and *Henry and Dizzy* (1942). His final credited work as editor was on *Champagne for Caesar* (1950).
