## Biography

Hugh David (born David Williams Hughes) was a Welsh actor and television director. Born in Aberystwyth on 17 July 1925, he began his career as an actor in the 1950s and appeared in series including Knight Errant Limited before transitioning to directing after completing the BBC's directors' training course.

He directed two Doctor Who serials during the Patrick Troughton era: The Highlanders (1966–1967) and Fury from the Deep (1968). His other directing credits include episodes of Compact, Z-Cars, The Pallisers (1974), Emmerdale and Luke's Kingdom (1976). David was married to actress Wendy Williams from 1960 until his death in London on 11 September 1987.
