## Biography

Hugh Johnson was an Irish cinematographer and film director. Born in Navan, County Meath, he moved to London in the 1960s and began working at a photography studio in Soho. He was a founding member of Ridley Scott Associates and shot numerous commercials in the 1970s.

Johnson worked frequently with Ridley Scott and his brother Tony Scott. His credits as director of photography include *White Squall* (1996), *G.I. Jane* (1997), *The Chronicles of Riddick* (2004), *Kingdom of Heaven* (2005) and *Eragon* (2006). He also directed the feature *Chill Factor* (1999). He died in Los Angeles in 2015.
