## Biography

Hugh Lewis Lloyd MBE (1923–2008) was an English actor. Born in Chester, Cheshire, he worked as a reporter on the Chester Chronicle before beginning his acting career with ENSA and in repertory theatre. He became known in the 1960s for comedy roles in television series including Hancock's Half Hour and Hugh and I.

Lloyd appeared in numerous television plays and series, among them the role of George in She's Been Away (1989). His film credits include Quadrophenia (1979), Venom (1981) and Alice in Wonderland (1999). He received an MBE in 2005 for services to drama and charity.
