## Biography

Hunt Stromberg (1894–1968) was an American film producer, director and writer. He began his career as a sports writer for the St Louis Times before entering the film industry in the early 1920s as a publicist for Goldwyn Pictures and later as personal representative to Thomas H. Ince.

From 1925 to 1942 he worked as a producer and supervisor at MGM, where he oversaw many of the studio’s major releases. His credits include *The Thin Man* (1934) and its sequels, *The Great Ziegfeld* (1936), which won the Academy Award for Best Picture, *The Women* (1939) and *Pride and Prejudice* (1940). He later produced independently for United Artists until his retirement in 1951.
