## Biography

Ian Campbell (1924–1993) was a Scottish actor and professional wrestler. Born in Dunfermline, Fife, he competed as a heavyweight, briefly holding the British Heavyweight Championship in 1966.

Campbell appeared in several television programmes, including as himself on *Coronation Street* in 1964 and in episodes of *How We Used to Live* (1969), *Nearest and Dearest* (1973) and *Crown Court* (1976). He is best known for playing Oak in the 1973 film *The Wicker Man*, on which he also contributed to the soundtrack.

He was involved in charity work and was inducted posthumously into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame for Scotland.
