## Biography

Ian Iqbal Rashid is a filmmaker, screenwriter and poet. Born in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, he grew up in Toronto, Canada, and later settled in London.

He wrote episodes of the BBC drama series *This Life* (1996–1997), for which he received a Writers' Guild of Great Britain award. Rashid wrote and directed the feature films *Touch of Pink* (2004) and *How She Move* (2007), both of which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He has also written and co-executive produced episodes of the television series *Sort Of* (2021–2023).

Rashid is the author of several volumes of poetry and has received awards including the Aga Khan Award for Excellence in the Arts and recognition as a Breakthrough Brit by the UK Film Council.
