Ian McLellan Hunter (8 August 1915 – 5 March 1991) was an English screenwriter. Born in London, he worked on numerous films and television productions, often using pseudonyms such as Ian Larkin, Ian Hunter and Samuel B. West.

He is credited with the screenplay and story for *Roman Holiday* (1953). Hunter fronted for the blacklisted Dalton Trumbo on the project, receiving the Academy Award for Best Story; he later passed most of the fee to Trumbo. Hunter himself was subsequently blacklisted. Other credits include the screenplays for *Second Chorus* (1941), *The Amazing Mr. X* (1948) and *The Outside Man* (1972).

His son Tim Hunter is a film director.
