## Biography

Igo Kantor was an Austrian-born American film producer, post-production executive and music supervisor. Born in Vienna in 1930, he was raised in Lisbon, Portugal, where he received a high school and music education. He moved to the United States in 1948, studied at UCLA and became a US citizen in 1952.

Kantor began his career in editing and music supervision at Columbia Studios and its Screen Gems subsidiary. In the mid-1960s he founded the post-production company Synchrofilm, where he supervised work on series including *The Monkees* and films such as *Easy Rider* (1969) and *Five Easy Pieces* (1970). He later produced low-budget features including *Kingdom of the Spiders* (1977), *The Dark* (1979) and *Hardly Working* (1980). His music credits include supervision or composition on *Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill!* (1965), *Hang 'em High* (1968), *Beyond the Valley of the Dolls* (1970) and *The Kentucky Fried Movie* (1977). Kantor died in 2019.
