## Biography

Ilka Chase (1905–1978) was an American actress, radio host and novelist. Born in New York City, she was the daughter of Edna Woolman Chase, long-time editor-in-chief of Vogue. She made her Broadway debut in 1924 and appeared in the original cast of Clare Boothe Luce's The Women (1938).

Her film roles included Lisa Vale in Now, Voyager (1942), Patty Benedict in The Big Knife (1955) and a guest panelist in It Should Happen to You (1954). She played Mrs. Restes in Ocean's Eleven (1960), her last motion picture. Chase also hosted radio programmes such as Luncheon at the Waldorf and wrote several novels and two volumes of autobiography.
