## Biography

Ingvar Hirdwall (5 December 1934 – 6 April 2023) was a Swedish actor. He trained at the Gothenburg City Theatre stage school from 1957 to 1960 and worked extensively in theatre, film and television from the early 1960s, notably at Stockholms stadsteater.

He is best known in Sweden for his recurring role as “the Neighbour” (Grannen) in the long-running *Beck* television films from 1997 onwards, and internationally for playing lawyer Dirch Frode in the *Millennium* films, including *The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo* (2009). Other notable credits include *Man on the Roof* (1976), *The Man from Majorca* (1984) and *Wallander* (2005). Hirdwall received a Guldbagge Award for Best Actor for *Children's Island* (1980) and a further Guldbagge for supporting actor in 2003, as well as the Thaliapriset in 1993. He was married to actress Marika Lindström; they had two children who also work in the industry.
