Simpson, also credited as Ivan Simpson and I. F. Simpson, was a Scottish actor. Born in Glasgow, he moved to New York City as a young man and appeared on Broadway from 1906 until his death. He began working in silent films in 1915 and became a prolific character actor in Hollywood during the 1930s, appearing in over 100 films. He played Sir Hugh Myers in *Disraeli* (1929) alongside George Arliss, with whom he worked on several pictures.
