## Biography

Ivan F. Simpson, also credited as Ivan Simpson and I. F. Simpson, was a Scottish actor. Born in Glasgow, he moved to New York City as a young man and appeared on Broadway from 1906 until his death.

He began working in silent films in 1915 and became a prolific character actor in Hollywood during the 1930s, appearing in over 100 films. He played Sir Hugh Myers in *Disraeli* (1929) alongside George Arliss, with whom he worked on several pictures. His other credits include *Mutiny on the Bounty* (1935), *Captain Blood* (1935), *David Copperfield* (1935), *The Adventures of Robin Hood* (1938), *The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes* (1939), *Random Harvest* (1942) and *Jane Eyre* (1943). Simpson's final film was *My Girl Tisa* (1948). He died in New York City in 1951.
