## Biography

Ivo Perilli (1902–1994) was an Italian screenwriter. Born in Rome, he trained in architecture and initially worked in set design, costumes and advertising for the cinema before entering screenwriting in the early 1930s.

He collaborated extensively with director Mario Camerini and later contributed to major Italian and international productions. His credits include the screenplays for *Bitter Rice* (1949), *Europa '51* (1952), *Ulysses* (1954), *War and Peace* (1956), *Barabbas* (1961) and *The Bible: In the Beginning...* (1966). He also wrote for films by directors including Giuseppe De Santis, Alberto Lattuada and Roberto Rossellini.
