## Biography

Ivor Roberts (19 July 1925 – 5 September 1999) was a British actor and television continuity announcer who often appeared in comedic roles. Born in Nottingham, he served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War before returning to acting. He began his television career as a continuity announcer for the regional ITV company TWW in Wales, remaining in the role until the company lost its franchise in 1968.

Roberts transitioned to on-screen work in the 1970s, accumulating many guest appearances in series such as *Porridge* (1974), *Doctor Who* (1975), *Yes Minister* (1980–81) and *Inspector Morse* (1987). His film credits included *Hopscotch* (1980), *Another Country* (1984) and *Personal Services* (1987). He was best known for recurring television roles as Arnold Thomas in the sitcom *Oh, Doctor Beeching!* (1995–97) and Mr Barnes in *You Rang, M'Lord?* (1990–93). He died in Cardiff, Wales.
