## Biography

J. Elvis Weinstein, also credited as Josh Weinstein, is an American writer, producer and performer. He began performing stand-up comedy at the age of 15 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. At 17 he joined the original cast and writing team of the cult series *Mystery Science Theater 3000* (1988–1990), providing the voice and puppeteering for Tom Servo and Gypsy, and playing Dr. Laurence Erhardt.

After leaving the series he moved to Los Angeles and worked as a writer and producer on network comedies including *Freaks and Geeks* (1999–2000). He adopted the professional name J. Elvis Weinstein to distinguish himself from another writer of the same name. He later served as head writer on *America's Funniest Home Videos* and *Later with Greg Kinnear*. In 2008 he reunited with former *Mystery Science Theater 3000* colleagues for the live show and DVD series *Cinematic Titanic*.
