J.J. Johnston (born James William Johnston) was an American actor. He was born on 24 October 1933 in Chicago, Illinois, and died on 4 November 2022.

He appeared in numerous films and television series, including as O'Rourke in *Fatal Attraction* (1987), a mobster in *JFK* (1991), the doorman in *The Spanish Prisoner* (1997), and roles in *Mad Dog and Glory* (1993), *State and Main* (2000) and *Redbelt* (2008). His television credits include appearances in *Married... with Children*, *The King of Queens* and *The Librarians* (2014).

Johnston had a background in theatre, performing in the original Chicago production of David Mamet's *American Buffalo* (1975) and the 1983 Broadway revival. He was also a boxing historian and author of books on the subject.
