## Biography

Jacek Ostaszewski is a Polish musician, composer, flautist and double bassist. Born on 5 May 1944 in Kraków, he co-founded and led the ethno-jazz group Osjan in the early 1970s. He has collaborated as a jazz performer with artists including Marek Grechuta, Tomasz Stańko, Krzysztof Komeda and Don Cherry.

Ostaszewski has composed music for theatre productions, including works directed by Krystian Lupa at the Stary Theatre in Kraków, as well as for ballet and film. He was a lecturer at the State Drama School in Kraków. He performed on flute for film scores by Zbigniew Preisner, including those for Krzysztof Kieślowski’s *The Double Life of Véronique* (1991) and *Three Colors: Blue* (1993), in which he also appeared on screen as the flutist.
