## Biography

Jack Ellis is a British theatre and television actor. Born John Stuart Ellis on 4 June 1955 in London, he was educated at Highgate School alongside his brothers, actor Robin Ellis and director Peter Ellis. He has appeared in numerous television series since the mid-1980s, often in supporting or recurring roles.

His early prominent television role was as Detective Inspector Tony Muddyman in the crime drama *Prime Suspect* (1991–1995). He is best known for portraying prison officer Jim Fenner in *Bad Girls* (1999–2005) and bookmaker Harry Mason in *Coronation Street* (2007–2008). Other credits include appearances in *Highlander: The Series*, *Vera*, *New Tricks* and stage productions such as *The Crucible*.
