## Biography

Jack L. Warner (1892–1978) was a Canadian-American film executive and producer. He was the youngest of the four Warner brothers who founded Warner Bros. Pictures and served as the studio's head of production for much of its history.

Warner began in the film industry with his brothers, opening theatres and later establishing a production company. As co-head of production with his brother Sam, he helped secure the technology for the first feature-length talking picture, *The Jazz Singer* (1927). After Sam's death, Warner took greater control and oversaw the studio's output of social dramas and star vehicles.

He is credited as producer on *Disraeli* (1929) and served as executive producer or producer on films including *The Adventures of Robin Hood* (1938), *Casablanca* (1943), *The Big Sleep* (1946), *Mildred Pierce* (1945) and *My Fair Lady* (1964). Warner remained with the studio until the 1970s.
