## Biography

Jack Laird (1923–1991) was an American screenwriter, producer, director and actor. He began his career as a child actor before moving into writing for television in the late 1940s and 1950s, contributing episodes to series including *Have Gun – Will Travel* and *My Three Sons*.

In the 1960s he worked as a writer and story editor on the medical drama *Ben Casey*, later serving as associate producer. He received a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Writing Achievement in Drama for the series in 1962. During the 1970s he was a writer, director, producer and occasional actor on the anthology series *Night Gallery*, and wrote numerous episodes and served as supervising producer on *Kojak* (1973–77). He earned two further Emmy nominations for his work on *Night Gallery* and *Kojak*.
