## Biography

Jack T. Collis (also credited as Jack Collis) was an American art director and production designer. He studied architecture at the University of Southern California and began his career as a set decorator at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the early 1950s. He worked in both film and television, serving as art director on series including *Batman*, *The Rat Patrol* and *Hawaii Five-O*.

From the late 1970s he worked primarily as a production designer. His credits include *The Jerk* (1979), *National Lampoon's Vacation* (1983), *Splash* (1984), *Cocoon* (1985), *Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home* (1986), *The Running Man* (1987) and *Far and Away* (1992). He received an Academy Award nomination for art direction on *The Last Tycoon* (1976).

Collis was born on 12 January 1923 in Los Angeles and died on 1 February 1998 in Encino, California.
