## Biography

Jack Winter was an American television writer and director. He attended Harvard University, graduating in 1962, and served as president of the Harvard Lampoon. He began his professional career writing for The Jackie Gleason Show before moving to Hollywood.

Winter contributed scripts to numerous sitcoms, including an episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show in 1966 for which he received a Writers Guild of America award, five episodes of The Monkees in 1967, an episode of The Mary Tyler Moore Show in 1974, multiple episodes of The Odd Couple (also directing one), Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley. He worked as a script doctor on the 1988 film Big.

Winter died on 29 December 2006 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
