Fontaine appeared in films from the early 1950s, including *The Strip* (1951) as Frieda, *Outlaw Women* (1952) as Ellen Larabee, and *The Country Girl* (1954) as the lounge singer. Later credits include *The Ladies Man* (1961) as a working girl and an uncredited singer role in *Guess Who's Coming to Dinner* (1967). She also performed as a nightclub singer and made recordings.
