Jacques Becker (15 September 1906 – 21 February 1960) was a French film director and screenwriter. Born in Paris, he began working in cinema in the late 1920s as an assistant to Jean Renoir on several films, including *La Grande Illusion* (1937), on which he also appeared uncredited as a British officer.

Becker directed his first feature in 1942 after a period as a prisoner of war. His subsequent films include *Antoine et Antoinette* (1947), *Casque d'Or* (1952), *Touchez pas au Grisbi* (1954), *Ali Baba et les quarante voleurs* (1954) and *Le Trou* (1960). He died in Paris aged 53.
