## Biography

Jacques Lemare (1912–1988) was a French cinematographer and camera operator. Born Gaston Auguste Jacques Lemare in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, he began his career in the late 1930s as a camera operator on several films, including Jean Renoir’s *The Rules of the Game* (1939).

He later worked as director of photography on numerous French feature films and television productions from the 1940s to the 1960s. Among his credits are *125 rue Montmartre* (1959) and *The Hands of Orlac* (1960). He was married to Gilberte Emma Darricades.
