## Biography

Jacques Picoux (9 November 1948 – 16 October 2016) was a French actor and lecturer. He taught French language and literature at National Taiwan University after moving to Taipei in 1979, retiring in 2004. He also worked as a translator and subtitler for several films by directors including Hou Hsiao-hsien, Wong Kar-wai and Zhang Yimou.

Picoux appeared as Kongkonger (also credited as Lady Tian's Teacher or Kong Kong) in Hou Hsiao-hsien's *The Assassin* (2015). He provided a voice for *The Hole* (1998) and was known as a collage painter, holding a solo exhibition in 2012.
