## Biography

James Brown was an American film and television actor. Born in Desdemona, Texas, he attended Baylor University, where he played tennis, before beginning his screen career in the early 1940s.

His early film roles included Ted Haines Jr. in *Going My Way* (1944), as well as appearances in *Objective, Burma!* (1945) and *Sands of Iwo Jima* (1950). He is best known for playing Lieutenant Ripley "Rip" Masters in the television series *The Adventures of Rin Tin Tin* (1954–1959). Later credits include a recurring role as Detective Harry McSween in *Dallas* (1978–1986) and a part in *Irma la Douce* (1963). He also guest-starred in series such as *Murder, She Wrote*.
