## Biography

James Hill (1 August 1916 – 11 January 2001) was an American film producer and screenwriter. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, he came to Hollywood as a writer and worked on films and television for Warner Brothers and CBS. He later joined producer Harold Hecht and actor Burt Lancaster, becoming an equal partner in their company, which was renamed Hecht-Hill-Lancaster Productions in 1957.

Hill produced or served as executive producer on films including *Vera Cruz* (1954), *Trapeze* (1956), *Sweet Smell of Success* (1957), *Run Silent, Run Deep* (1958), *Separate Tables* (1958) and *The Unforgiven* (1960). He was married to actress Rita Hayworth from 1958 to 1961; they met during the production of *Separate Tables*. He died in Santa Monica, California.
