## Biography

James Kramer is an American writer, director and producer who has worked in television, film and theatre for over 40 years. A Yale University graduate, he began his career in the theatre, writing and directing plays in New York and at regional theatres including the Kennedy Center, Actors Theatre of Louisville and Williamstown Theatre Festival. He served for five years as General Producer and Artistic Director of the Chelsea Encore Theatre in New York, staging more than 70 productions.

Kramer entered television as a writer, director and casting director on the daytime drama *Search for Tomorrow*. He moved to Los Angeles in 1985 and contributed as writer, director and producer to prime-time series including *St. Elsewhere*, *Moonlighting* (1985), *Due South* (1994), *Diagnosis: Murder* (1993), for which he also wrote the pilot, *Once & Again*, *Judging Amy* and *Phil of the Future* (2004). His work has received Emmy, Prism, Angel, Gemini and Hollywood Reporter nominations and awards. Since the late 1990s he has also worked as a production and writing consultant and coach.
