## Biography

Jimmy MacDonald (also credited as James MacDonald and John James MacDonald) was a voice actor and sound effects artist. He joined Walt Disney Productions in the 1930s as a musician and became head of the studio’s sound effects department.

MacDonald provided voices for numerous Disney animated films and shorts. His credits include Jaq and Gus in *Cinderella* (1950), the Dormouse in *Alice in Wonderland* (1951), Lumpjaw in *Fun and Fancy Free* (1947), and roles in *The Jungle Book* (1967), *The Sword in the Stone* (1963) and *The Rescuers* (1977). He was the official voice of Mickey Mouse from 1947 until 1977.

He also created thousands of sound effects for Disney productions and appeared in a small number of live-action credits, including work on *Mary Poppins* (1964).
