James McArdle is a Scottish actor born on 3 April 1989 in Glasgow. He trained at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), graduating in 2010. In his graduation year he appeared in *Macbeth* at the Globe and starred in *Spur of the Moment* at the Royal Court Theatre.

On stage he has performed in *A Month in the Country*, *Chariots of Fire* and *Platonov*, for which he won the Ian Charleson Award; he received an Olivier Award nomination for *Angels in America*.
