## Biography

James Payne is a British screenwriter and producer. He has written episodes of numerous British television series, including one episode of *Ashes to Ashes* (2010), one episode of *Hustle* (2011), two episodes of *Death in Paradise* (2011–2013) and two episodes of *Mr Selfridge* (2015–2016).

Payne has co-created and written *By Any Means* (2013) and *Hooten & the Lady* (2016). He created, wrote and executive produced the international series *The Window* (2022). He has also been a core writer on *EastEnders*, contributing dozens of episodes since 2002, including the 30th anniversary live episode.

His credits include episodes of *Strike Back*, *The Musketeers* and *Moving Wallpaper*. Work on *EastEnders* and other series has been associated with BAFTA and other awards.
