## Biography

James Seay (9 September 1914 – 10 October 1992) was an American character actor who appeared in numerous minor supporting roles, often as government officials or authority figures.

Born in Pasadena, California, he trained at the Pasadena Playhouse and received a contract from Paramount Pictures. He served in the United States Army during the Second World War, where he appeared in training films. His film credits include an uncredited role as Dr. Pierce in *Miracle on 34th Street* (1947), as well as parts in *The Day the Earth Stood Still* (1951), *The War of the Worlds* (1953), *Kiss Me Deadly* (1955) and *What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?* (1962).

On television he had recurring roles as Judge Spicer in sixteen episodes of *The Life and Legend of Wyatt Earp* and as a sheriff in *Fury*. He also appeared in episodes of *The Twilight Zone* and *The Andy Griffith Show*.
