## Biography

James Urbaniak is an American actor. Born on 17 September 1963 in Bayonne, New Jersey, he has worked in theatre, film and television since the mid-1980s.

His stage work includes an Obie Award-winning performance in Richard Foreman’s *The Universe*. He received a Drama Desk Award nomination for *Thom Pain (based on nothing)*. On screen, Urbaniak is known for playing Simon Grim in Hal Hartley’s *Henry Fool* (1997), *Fay Grim* (2006) and *Ned Rifle* (2014), and Robert Crumb in *American Splendor* (2003). He voiced Dr Thaddeus Venture in the animated series *The Venture Bros.* (2003–2023).

Urbaniak played Grant Grunderschmidt on the Comedy Central series *Review* (2014–2017). Other credits include appearances in *The Office* (2005), *Brooklyn Nine-Nine* (2013), *Better Call Saul* (2015) and *Oppenheimer* (2023) as Kurt Gödel.
