James William Newport is a production designer and art director. He worked as production designer on *Nice Dreams* (1981), in which he also appeared as the character Grow Room Weirdo / Weird Jimmy. His early credits include production design on *Over the Edge* (1979) and art direction on *Elvis* (1979).

Newport has production design credits on films including *The Stepfather* (1987), *Fatal Beauty* (1987), *Brokedown Palace* (1999) and *Bangkok Dangerous* (2008). He served as art director on *Mechanic: Resurrection* (2016). Television work includes episodes of *Lost* (2008) and *The Shield* (2002). He has received Primetime Emmy nominations for his production design.
