James Yoshimura is an American television writer and producer. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and studied at the Yale School of Drama before beginning his career in theatre.

Yoshimura worked on *Homicide: Life on the Street* (1993–1999) as a writer and later producer, contributing numerous episodes including the Peabody Award-winning 'Subway'. He co-wrote the 2000 television film *Homicide: The Movie* and co-created the 2004 series *The Jury*. He later wrote for *Treme* (2010) and *Homeland* (2011), serving as consulting producer on both.

Yoshimura received two Primetime Emmy nominations for his writing on *Homicide: Life on the Street* and *Homicide: The Movie*.
