## Biography

Jan Klusák (born Jan Porges, 18 April 1934) is a Czech composer and occasional actor. He studied composition at the Prague Music Academy from 1953 to 1957 under Jaroslav Řídký and Pavel Bořkovec, later working as a freelance composer of concert, film, television and incidental music.

Klusák has composed scores for numerous films, including *The Cry* (1963), *Martyrs of Love* (1966), *Late August at the Hotel Ozone* (1966) and the animated short *Dimensions of Dialogue* (1983). He has also appeared as an actor in films such as *Daisies* (1966), *A Report on the Party and the Guests* (1966) and *Valerie and Her Week of Wonders* (1970). In 1995 he received the Classic Award for his compositions, notably his *String Quartet No. 5*.
