## Biography

Jan Roelfs is a Dutch production designer. Born in 1957 in Amsterdam, he began his career as an art director in the Netherlands before becoming known for his work as production designer on several films directed by Peter Greenaway, including *The Cook, the Thief, His Wife & Her Lover* (1989) and *Prospero's Books* (1991).

Roelfs received Academy Award nominations for Best Art Direction for *Orlando* (1992), shared with Ben van Os, and for *Gattaca* (1997), shared with set decorator Nancy Nye. His later credits include *Alexander* (2004), *World Trade Center* (2006), *47 Ronin* (2013), *Ghost in the Shell* (2017), *Bird Box* (2018), *F9* (2021) and *Fast X* (2023).
