## Biography

Jane Danson is an English actress best known for playing Leanne Battersby (later Tilsley and Barlow) in the ITV soap opera *Coronation Street*, a role she first took in 1997 and has continued since 2004.

Born Jane Elizabeth Dawson on 8 November 1978 in Bury, Greater Manchester, she began her career under her birth name with a role in the 1991 series *GBH*. She trained at the Oldham Theatre Workshop and appeared in *Children's Ward* (1995–1997) and *The Grand* (1997) before joining *Coronation Street*. Other credits include PC Gemma Osbourne in *The Bill* (2002–2003) and roles in *Always and Everyone*.

Danson won the British Soap Award for Best Dramatic Performance in 2011 for her work on *Coronation Street*. She is married to actor Robert Beck.
